Print of the Month - October 2008
(2006-2386) Autumn Fog, Ramsley Moor
I was driving home through the fog in October 2006, taking my favourite route across the moors. It was quite foggy but occasionally there were patches of light and it was emerging through one of these I spotted these birches. What particularly caught my eye was the colours and light on the surrounding grasses so stopped and took dozens of pictures. I changed to the longer lens to isolate just a few trees and this was one of the last pictures I took.

Print of the Month - September 2008 This photograph was taken on 4th November 2007 at 5:15pm. I had been for a walk in the woodland just outside Matlock with the intent to be at the edge of the wood by sunset. As the sun started to drop behind the hills the old trees and fallen leaves became bathed in a golden glow, the effect just inside the wood being just magical with the light falling through the still green leaves on the trees. This group of beech trees caught my eye and the curve of the trunk in the centre tree suggested it was time to rest, to pause leaning against the adjacent trees. I stood and admired through the rangefinder of my Leica, the juxtaposition of the trees drawing its own frame. Leica M8, 35mm Summicron f2.0 lens, ISO320, 1/16sec, monopod |
