23rd November 2008 - Wild Wonders of Europe

I have been very poor at updating for the last few weeks - largely given the nature of my day job. Since I injured my back in August in Norway, effectively robbing me of my family holiday, I have done very little photography. Whilst I was able to move about I found walking any distance uphill incredibly tiring and so have been prevented from wondering far from my front room at home. Returning to work has meant very little time for anything else and I have consequently been unable to get out much at all recently. But then the weather for the last few weeks has also been rather miserable and even this weekend when we were promised a good covering of snow turned out miserable too. While many other parts of the UK got a decent amount of snow, here we got nothing but a bit of sleet and plenty of rain. Cold, yes, but not cold enough to put a sparkle on things.

So I have spent a lot of time looking at books and the web to find inspiration. The Wild Wonders of Europe is one that looks really interesting and I intend to follow this project more regularly. It is driven by a group of photographers trying to show us nature across Europe and some 50 people are involved in travelling to countries where they are not native to capture nature. This has resulted in some wonderful images from some of the best nature photographers. I really recommend you add it to your favourites list.
