34. Millstone Edge

(2008-3201) Millstone Edge
Poucher's view of Millstone Edge has three conical hatstacks just this side of the stone wall, a sight not seen for many years in the UK. During the 60 years or so since he took his photograph the trees along the base of Millstone Edge have grown up to hide the scarred rock face, a product of several centuries' worth of quarrying for stone that would become millstones (hence the name).
The photograph of Surprise View was taken from just off to the right hand side of this photograph and facing this way.
